台北金融大樓於91.7.18宣佈更名為『台北101』，並強調應念成『ONE-O-ONE』，而不是壹零壹。

TAIPEI 101的CI：三個中國古銅錢幣的造形，分別代表辦公大樓、購物中心和觀景台三個主題。古銅錢幣鏤空處呈現101的數字，其意函象徵該專案超越圓滿(100)，追求更高理想與完成的目標。

Exterior design is separated into 8 sections, each section having 8 levels. 

Symbol of Taipei 101: the shape of three old bronze Chinese coins, each one represents: office 

building、shopping mall and scenic platform. 

The number 101 is displayed in the center of the old bronze coin, representing the project is beyond completeness(100 ) and is pursuing  higher perfection and achievements.  

台北市政府表示：由於本區中心點的台北市政府、市議會、國父紀念館、世界貿易中心、國際會議中心、34層的國際貿易大樓、凱悅大飯店等大型建物興建完成，構成北市政治、經濟文化重心。未來世界金融亞太營運中心再完工，則本區勢將成為我國甚至東南亞地區的金融貿易重鎮。

台北金融大樓公司董事長李仲英表示：「TAIPEI101專案的成形，是市政府發展「亞太金融中心」計劃的落實，為跨國金融機構與本地企業提供接軌國際的優異金融硬體及軟體環境。」

台北金融大樓公司總經理李鴻明亦指出：「TAIPEI101座落於信義計畫區的心臟地帶，透過計劃於2005年完成的信義區人行空橋，將可與現有的國際會議中心、世貿展覽館群、凱悅飯店、華納威秀商圈以及週邊的高級辦公大樓群接續，形成一個結合金融、商務、休憩、購物的商業中心，待未來信義線捷運完工後，更能將觸角延伸，擴展至全台北市。」

The Taipei city government indicates: Due to the mammoth structures such as the Taipei City Government, Taipei City Council, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, T.W.T.C, Taipei International Convention Center, The Grand Hyatt Taipei, and Warner Village Cinemas that have been constructed, they constitute the political, economical, and financial core of Taipei city. In the future, when Taipei 101 is complete, Shin胑i district will definitely be considered the financial center of Taiwan and even South East Asia. --- data cited from www.istart.com.tw

Chun-in Lee, the board chairman of Taipei 101 said: The 101 project is the fulfillment of the Asia Pacific Finance Center, and provides a great environment of financial hardware and software for local enterprises to contact with the global community.

Hong-ming Lee, the chief manager of Taipei 101 also said: Taipei 101 is located in the heart of Shin-Yi district. There will be an overhead walkway complete in 2005 to connect Taipei International Convention Center, T.W.T.C., and Warner Village, composing a business center. Once the final construction of the Shin-Yi MRT line is finished, the entire city will be connected.
